Love is an action. âThereâs no greater love than this.. that a man lay down his life for his friend.â (John 15:13) AND âFor God so loved the world he gave up his only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. The one who believes in Him is not condemned; but whoever does not believe has been condemned already, because he has not put his trust in the name of the one and only Ben-Elohim. (Son of God)” – John 3:16-18
Two things. One, God gave his ONLY Son. Two, a Friend gave his life. Jesus calls us friend and so gave up his life. Both are large sacrifices. These days a large sacrifice could be âtelling the truthâ. The Bible says âThe truth in loveâ (Ephesians 4:15) .. So love is the truth in action. Or love is action in truth. The truth? We lack basic sympathy. We lack the ability to quietly listen to someoneâs pain and allow it to fill the emotional meter of our hearts and be moved by it..
We allow vicarious living for joy. That’s good share your joy. Happiness, loveâŚ. We say âIâm living vicariously through you”. Except when youâre in pain. Then? No thank you. But the Bible says laugh AND cry together.. (Romans 12:15) share both positive and negative emotions.. allow the negative to drive your prayers upward in earnest for someone else outside of yourself. Instead.. Pain has become taboo. You mustnât have it. Surely if you have it you mustnât express it.. For if you do, you deny the cross.. You deny Godâs power in your life. Else why even worship Him. Youâre in pain, God isnât working. But Yeshuaâs purpose WAS to come and die.. the fulfillment of his life on earth was for it to end in pain and rejection. For a much larger purpose and an unfathomable reward. But this was his earthly life. Frankly. The only dangerous thing in this life is evil. Not broken people in pain.
The Bible says the world doesnât know Him (John 1:10). That instead weâre here left with the spirit of truth (Holy Spirit) by which we obtain the ability to walk in it producing spiritual fruit from above. Paramount being love. Love comes from the spirit of truth as an outward action. It is the physical, visual, tangible proof of God.
Because God is love (1 John 4:8),
God is also spirit, and those that worship him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).
This is cyclical. Love is a spiritually truthful action.
Is it love to meet the broken where they are? Is it love to cry with someone in pain/mourning? Is it love to listen? Love to be slow to anger? Love to turn the other cheek? Love to speak? Love to be quiet? Love to endure? Love to correct? Love to forgive? Love to give up?âŚ.
Love said, âWhere are your accusers?â (John 8:1-11). Love cried when His friend Lazarus died (John 11:35), Love hears our cries and answers our prayers (Psalm 34:17). Love suffers long with the vessel for destruction (Romans 9:22-23). Love healed His captor’s ear (Luke 22:50-51). Love spoke to a Samaritan woman(John 4:7-26). Love didnât respond to Pontius Pilate (Matthew 27:13). Love was ridiculed by His creation (Mark 15:32). Love rebuked Heavy burden binders (Matthew 23:4). Love said âForgive them, they know not what they doâ (Luke 23:34). Love told Judas, âGo do what you do quicklyâ (John 13:27).
In all these things we are emissaries of love, whoâs name is Yeshua/Jesus. Listen to the pain and confusion of the lost. Listen. Listen. Listen. Hear that theyâre children of a wild man stumbling in the dark. Some have become wide-eyed. Pupils dilated searching for diamonds in the blackness. Yell out and ask âDoes anyone want something more?!â Whoever comes toward your voice, deal kindly with them. Theyâre broken, misinformed and tired. Have the patience that comes from truth. Plant the seed of truth that comes from love in action. The fields are ripe, but the laborers are few (Matthew 9:37-38). Our sickle is âloveâ. Wield it to win some. – Ju
